This release marks a strong follow-up to the original Abzorb 2000 introduced earlier in 2025 with futuristic design influences and clear Y2K aesthetics. What makes this release special?
The original Abzorb 2000 appeared in June 2025 and was immediately noticed for its futuristic silhouette, which was an idea of how New Balance’s ABZORB SBS technology could have further developed in the 2000s. Designed in 3D by Charlotte Lee, the shoe combined sculptural flowing shapes with cushioning and stability technology.
With the new colorways, New Balance shows that the Abzorb 2000 is more than a one-time statement sneaker. White Grey Blue brings airiness and pastel accents, Black Grey adds a technical, grey-black no-nonsense look. Two distinct variations, but with the same core quality.
Design and details
Both colorways have the same basic construction: a mesh-sleeve upper with synthetic overlays layered without visible seams, combined with TPU around the heel. The White Grey Blue version stands out with bright white mesh combined with grey panels and subtle blue accents on the collar and tongue, plus semi-transparent ABZORB SBS pods in the midsole.
The Black Grey version uses dark grey and black combined with matte overlays, with a blue tint in the cushioning pods – subtle but visible in the midsole. Both models are equipped with the striking ABZORB SBS technology, spread over five pods for full cushioning, and a midfoot plate for stability. Reflective details and a neat logo add extra futuristic flair.
