Patta and Nike renew the Air Max 90 – everything about the Waves Sapphire & Cyber

On June 23, 2025, Patta and Nike will release another unique collaboration. This time they focus on a classic in a new form: the Nike Air Max 90 SP in the colorways “Waves Sapphire” and “Waves Cyber.” With this release, Patta celebrates its lasting influence on streetwear and sneaker design, and the duo adds a striking chapter to the history of the Air Max series. The sneakers are part of a broader capsule called The New Wave, which also centers on clothing and music.

What makes this collab special?

The collaboration between Patta and Nike now has a rich history, with iconic releases like the Air Max 1 “Monarch” and “Noise Aqua.” With the new “Waves” iteration of the Air Max 90, the duo continues their creative line, but this time with a twist: for the first time, the recognizable wavy panel is applied to the Air Max 90, a model rarely included in collabs.

The release is part of a broader capsule, The New Wave, supported by a campaign directed by Baloji and an original track: U Don’t Have These by BNYX feat. BXKS. With this, Patta once again emphasizes the creative power of culture, music, and fashion.

 

Design and details

Both colorways bring innovation without losing the classic DNA of the Air Max 90. The most striking element is the wavy panel on the side – a signature of Patta’s recent Nike collaborations. The “Waves Sapphire” combines this with light gray suede, white mesh, and bright blue accents. The “Waves Cyber” opts for a more energetic approach, with bright green details against a dark gray and black base.

The sneakers feature a semi-transparent mudguard, a custom tongue-tag with Patta logo, and come in a co-branded box. The Air Max unit in the sole stays true to the original and provides the familiar comfort, while the upper is a mix of leather, mesh, and synthetic textile – perfect for daily use and collector value.

Both models are released in unisex sizes and are suitable for both women and men. The fit of the Air Max 90 remains unchanged – so you can go with your normal size. The shoes are designed for casual streetwear but also carry collector value thanks to their unique details and limited edition.

 

Release information

The official release is scheduled for June 23, 2025. The sneakers will be available via the official Patta app and the pattaxnike website, Nike SNKRS app, and possibly through selected retailers such as Asphaltgold, NAKED, and BSTN.

The official sneaker release is scheduled for June 23, 2025, but the capsule starts earlier. On Wednesday, June 18, the clothing collection will be exclusively available via the Patta mobile app. On Friday, June 20 at 13:00 CEST, the full drop – including sneakers, tracksuits, and T-shirts – will follow via pattaxnike.com, the Patta app and in Patta Chapter Stores in Amsterdam, London, Milan, and Lagos.

As an additional addition to the release, there will be a limited edition vinyl released, featuring music from the campaign. This is exclusively available with the purchase of an Air Max 90 or tracksuit at one of the Patta stores.
